The debt levels of emerging market countries are very low in absolute terms and compared with developed markets. Consequently, they will not have to contend with the fiscal drag associated with reducing high debt levels for years to come in the developed world. This will enhance an already large differential in the growth potential between emerging markets and developed countries.

On 17th July 2010, Douglas Cairns, an Investment Specialist at Threadneedle Asset Management Ltd., in London, completed an attempt to beat the record to land in all 50 states of the USA plus Washington DC and, subject to confirmation by the National Aeronautics Association, cut the existing 13-day 22-hour record by more than 50%, taking just five days and 15 hours.
