Our Senior team:
Simon Davies is Threadneedle's Executive Chairman.
Simon graduated in 1981 with an MA (Hons) in Engineering,
Economics and Management from Oxford University.
He started his career in 1981 with Rothschild Asset Management as
an Analyst and Fund Manager before moving to Gartmore in 1986 as a
Pension Fund Manager. In 1990 he transferred to the
international side of the investment management business initially
as Head of Global Funds and then as Head of International
Equities.
He joined Threadneedle in 1995 and built up the investment
department, before becoming Chief Executive Officer in 1999.
After overseeing a period of major expansion and corporate change,
in 2007 Simon became Executive Chairman where he concentrates on
three principal areas of strategy, customer acquisition and talent
management.
Simon is a former Chairman of the Investment Management
Association.
Crispin Henderson is Chief Executive Officer at
Threadneedle.
He joined the company in 2002 as Chief Operating Officer, leading
the finance, operations, administration and IT functions that have
helped to earn Threadneedle its reputation for
professionalism.
Before becoming Managing Director in 2006, Crispin chaired our
Strategic Alliances Business Management Team. He then became Chief
Executive in 2007 and is responsible for the overall management of
Threadneedle.
Before joining Threadneedle, he spent 35 years at
PricewaterhouseCoopers and its predecessor firms and 25 of these
years as a Partner. Crispin specialised in providing
consulting, advisory and audit services to major financial services
clients.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in
England & Wales, the Association of Chartered Certified
Accountants and the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Sarah Arkle is Vice Chairman of Threadneedle. Prior to taking up this role Sarah spent nine years as Threadneedle's Chief Investment Officer, overseeing a highly successful period of fund performance for the company. She was also responsible for building the company's investment process and recruiting a number of the firm's senior fund managers. In 1983, Sarah moved from WI Carr to become a Far East Equity Manager and subsequently became a Director at Allied Dunbar Asset Management, which became part of Threadneedle in May 1994. As such, Sarah was one of Threadneedle's founding members. Sarah graduated with a degree in Management Studies from Cambridge University.
Mark Burgess joined Threadneedle in November 2010 and took over
as the company's Chief Investment Officer in January 2011. In
this role, he is responsible for continuing Threadneedle's strong
performance track record across all asset classes. He also
chairs the company's Asset Allocation Committee and sits on the
Executive Board.
Prior to joining Threadneedle, Mark was Head of Equities at Legal
& General Investment management, where he developed the
company's strategy of focusing on high alpha, high conviction
investing. This strategy led to a turnaround in investment
performance and the retail funds winning a number of awards.
He also oversaw the introduction of a number of long/short hedge
funds and UCITS III strategies. Before joining LGIM, Mark
held senior roles at Morgan Grenfell Asset Management and Deutsche
Asset Management.
He gained a degree in Economics and Philosophy from Keele
University and is an associate of the Institute of Investment
Management and Research.
Don began his career in 1982, at Prudential, then joining Allied Dunbar as a trainee property manager and obtained Associate Membership of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. In 1991 he became a Director responsible for the Allied Dunbar Unit Linked Life Property Fund. On the formation of Threadneedle Property Investments in 1994 by merging the property investment activities of Allied Dunbar and Eagle Star, Don joined as a founding director. Don graduated in 1984 with a First Class Honours Degree in Urban Estates Surveying. In 1988 he obtained an MBA from City University London.
Philip Best joined Threadneedle in 2007 as our Chief Risk
Officer and head of the Quantitative Research team, responsible for
measuring, monitoring and reporting investment risk.
He has worked on financial markets risk since 1985, and in 1998
published one of the first books on VAR, Implementing Value at
Risk.
Philip Reed joined Threadneedle in 2007 as General
Counsel.
He is responsible for the delivery of legal and compliance advice
to the Board as well as management of the legal, compliance and
company secretarial functions. He also liaises with the
Ameriprise General Counsel.
Prior to joining Threadneedle, Philip was a partner at Norton
Rose. He has also worked as a barrister in the Chambers of
Robert Webb QC.
In 1984 Philip graduated from Oxford with a degree in law.
He became a barrister in 1985 and a solicitor in 1999 and is a
member of the Law Society, Bar of England and Wales and the
American Bar Association.
Campbell Fleming joined Threadneedle as Head of Distribution in
2009. In this role he is responsible for directing the
company's global sales, marketing and product development efforts
and is also a member of the Executive Committee.
Prior to joining Threadneedle, Campbell was Managing Director of
JP Morgan Asset Management's UK business. He had been with
the group for 12 years, first joining Robert Fleming Asset
Management in 1997 and staying with the firm through a period of
significant corporate activity. He has also held a variety of
regulatory and legal roles in the UK and Australia.
Campbell gained a Diploma in Law at the Barristers &
Solicitors Admission Board in conjunction with the University of
Sydney Law School in 1991. He has also been admitted to the
Supreme Courts of England & Wales and New South Wales and is a
member of the Institute of Directors.
Raymundo Yu joined Threadneedle in the newly created role of Asia Pacific Chairman in November 2010, based in Singapore. He joined Threadneedle's Executive Committee at the same time. Raymundo is a senior international financial services executive with almost 30 years' experience gained working across Asia, the Middle East, Europe, the UK and in the US. He has an outstanding record of building financial services franchises across broad geographic regions. As Chairman Asia Pacific, Raymundo will spearhead Threadneedle and the Ameriprise Group businesses in Asia as it moves into a phase of accelerated growth.
Gary Collins joined Threadneedle in 2006 as Head of UK Retail Sales and became Head of UK Wholesale Distribution in 2009. In this role he is responsible for promoting Threadneedle's range of funds within the UK market. Gary started his career with Mercury Asset Management in 1995 as a Sales Manager. In 2001, Mercury Asset Management became Merrill Lynch Investment Managers and in 2004, Gary was appointed Director of UK Retail Sales. Gary graduated in 1995 from Nottingham Trent University with a degree in Financial Services.
Tim Gillbanks joined Threadneedle in 2004 as deputy finance director and became finance director in 2005. He is responsible for maintaining financial control of the business and its assets and to plan and manage profitability.
Prior to joining Threadneedle, Tim spent six years at PricewaterhouseCoopers initially as an Auditor before qualifying as a Chartered Accountant and providing operational consultancy services to the investment management industry. He has also worked in both Thailand and the US.
Tim holds a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering from Bristol
University and is a member of the Institute of Chartered
Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW).
